So how do you reach 21? In blackjack, the cards have values. Numbered cards two through ten are counted at face value, while all face cards (King, Queen and Jack) are worth ten points. The ace is a special card in blackjack: you make a choice whether it’s worth 1 or 11 points. Since casino players are given two cards to begin, if you are given an ace and a face card or 10,you’ve achieved twenty one-an immediate success, as long as the croupier doesn’t get 21 as well. This twocard winning hand is called a "blackjack"; hence the name of the game!
Casino game rules for black jack are basically similar at all betting houses. After you are dealt your first 2 cards, your choices are to take another card, stay with your first 2 cards, double your wager and take one card, split your hand into 2 hands with a second wager equal to the first, or occasionally bow out.
When you bet on twenty-one at a betting house, make sure to understand which blackjack table to choose. Most casinos have colour coded blackjack tables depending on the min. bet the table accepts, normally 3 dollars, five dollars, twenty-five dollars or 100 dollars. In any betting house, it is a certainty the three dollar and $5 tables will be crowded, but they’re great for newcomers at black jack considering that all of the cards are dealt face-up, as opposed to the one-up, 1down concept at higher tables.
